What is the course: Level 2, Understanding Health Improvement, from Royal Society for Public Health (aka Health Champion training)
Who is it for: patient facing, including non-clinical staff up to 15 spaces
What’s involved: 1 days training with a multiple-choice exam at the end
Cost: fully funded by the Wandsworth CEPN
The aim of this qualification is to provide candidates with an understanding of the principles of promoting health and wellbeing and enable them to direct individuals towards further practical support in their efforts to attain a healthier lifestyle.
The qualification is for Wandsworth frontline practice staff including our HCA’s, medical assistants, care navigators (signposting), physician associates and our Health & Social Care co-ordinators. Anyone who may have the opportunity to encourage and motivate people to make positive lifestyle choices.
The learning outcomes are:
- Know how health inequalities develop and what the current policies are for addressing these
- Understand how effective communication can support health messages
- Know how to promote improvements in health and wellbeing to individuals
- Understand the impact of change on improving an individual’s health and wellbeing.
The course will end with a 30-question multiple choice paper and successful candidates will receive a level 2 certificate from the Royal Society for Public Health.
