‘Survive and Thrive’ is a national initiative that provides a supportive and confidential space for GPs to reflect together on the challenges and difficulties we face and to explore what we can do to sustain our wellbeing throughout our career.

The day will be split into two parts. The first part looks at what we can do ourselves, as doctors and people, to manage the emotional impact of our work and to maintain our mental and physical health. The second part looks at how our role and connections within our team might help strengthen our resilience.

At the core of the day will be two sessions of reflective group work designed to help us reflect about ourselves, our workload, and our relationships with colleagues and patients. There will also be an opportunity to discuss issues such as burnout. Although programme initially developed for GPs, other practice staff may attend.

“We have to ensure that all NHS staff receive the same compassion that they, rightly, are expected to give to their patients.”
– Dr Clare Gerada MBE FRCP FRCGP FRCPsych
